Green Eggs & Ham!

My children really like books by Dr. Seuss so we make sure on his birthday every year to take time to read some of his books and to have a delicious breakfast of green eggs and ham!

Our breakfast included:
* Green Scrambled Eggs...eggs, milk, salt, pepper (whisked together)
* Ham ... cooked for a few seconds on each side on the skillet after I cook the eggs
* Toast ... with butter
* Fruit .... we had orange slices and 1/2 a banana

Our kids loved it!

After our breakfast our bellies were full and we were ready to conquer the day!

"Love Potion"

Today while browsing through my email I came across an email with a promotional deal for 99 prints for 99 cents (from Snapfish) plus shipping....but it still comes to around 6 cents a print! That is an amazing deal! I am a photograph-aholic. I love putting them in scrapbooks, photo books, picture frames, and giving them to family and friends as gifts!

The 99 cent prints promotion is one of my favorite promotions (other than the ones for 25 free prints which I occasionally find). After putting my son in his crib for his nap and setting my daughter up with a craft project I got work on downloading all the pictures off of my phone and came across these pictures from Valentine's Day!

 We made some delicious "Love Potion" as a yummy treat on Valentine's Day. Here are the ingredients:

Love Potion Ingredients:
  * Canada Dry Cranberry Ginger Ale
  * Kemp's Raspberry Sherbet

It is as easy as that!

This is a real treat for my daughter as we give her very little soda and only for special occasions. We had so much fun making and tasting this delicious treat for Valentine's Day I thought it was worth sharing!

Tip: I am always watching the sales and ads for months prior to a holiday or event (such as a birthday). I found the 2-liter bottles of Cranberry Ginger Ale on sale for about $0.60/each at Hy-Vee following Christmas (in early January) as it is a seasonal item. We like it so much that I'm always waiting for this deal to come around and then stock up on it when it does go on sale.

Tip: I subscribe to several websites email lists which do monthly promotional deals for cheap pictures... here are my top favorites Snapfish, Walgreen's Photo, and Shutterfly. I have a folder on my computer which I place photos into each time I download them from my phone or camera titled "To Print" so it is ready to go when these deals become available. All I have to do after learning of the details is upload them to their site and order the prints. It takes less than 20 minutes and my pictures usually arrive within in 1-2 weeks. It's simple and easy once you get it set up!

Online Samples!

There are many ways in which to get free samples of great products these days! Some of the easiest ways to get samples are to follow online blogs, request samples right from the company using their website or social media site, or to keep an eye out when you are out and about. Lots of times stores will even offer up samples. I follow three amazing blogs on social media that practically do all the work for me. All I have to do is click on their link, fill out the information, and sit back and wait for the freebies to arrive in 2-4 weeks (on average).

And who doesn't love to get freebies? Even our three-year-old daughter loves helping daddy get the mail when he gets home from work to see what new package has arrived.

Here are two of the latest freebies we have received in the past month...

This first one is from a company called PINCHme. As long as you fill out their survey's and sign on when samples are available you will get monthly samples.

Another freebie we also recently received was for the Yoplait Greek Challenge. I'd heard them advertise it on the television and found their link online. It was a great surprise when UPS dropped off a package one day with the box (shown in the first picture) and a $4 debit card to purchase the yogurt. That kids loved it and it made for some wonderful family memories.

Finally a Warm Day!

It has been quite a while since I last made a post! We had the dreaded flu virus make it's rounds in our house over the past week and a half. No matter how hard we tried to avoid it we still wound up with it! I'm hoping it's past us now. You may know that as a mom some things must go on the back burner while you are busy trying to get everyone healthy again so that is what happened with the blog. I had to put it aside for a while as we were all recovering!

Today was a beautiful day! For the first time this year I opened the windows and turned the heat off. Too bad it is not predicted to last as tomorrow is suppose to be back in the 40's....come on Mother Nature....just make it Spring time already!

I and the kids are excited to get outside and breathe in the fresh air. We ventured outside for a little bit today. Our lawn furniture and outside toys are all still packed away in the shed and garage... so my three-year-old searched the yard for bugs with her magnify glass while my nine-month-old enjoyed looking around and listening to the fun sounds outside from the safety of his exersaucer!

When my daughter started to get bored of searching for bugs she joined me with gathering up twigs and sticks in the yard. I had her make a pile of them on the drive way. This kept her attention for quite a while! That was until it was time to go inside to give little brother his afternoon bottle!

We hope this little "tease" of warm weather does not make it too hard on us when it gets colder again in the next day or two. It sure is a reminder how much we are ready for Spring to come and stay for a while!
